Strong line up at Shannonbridge Festival
The fifth Shannonbridge Music Festival is underway until June 28 at the pretty Shannonside village.
As in previous years, the festival makes the most of what the location is known for, great music, a stunning riverside location and the Clonmacnoise monastic site.
On Friday night, Eleanor McEvoy, a singer song writer who consistently defies categorisation, plays at the Old Fort. Renowned for her song A Woman's Heart, which inspired an album of the same name, the best selling one in Irish history, her musical journey simply reflects the her journey through life.
Both headline acts are supported by Louise Killeen, a Shannonbridge native. Playing piano and guitar since the age of 12, she has since written and recorded many songs and now dedicates all her time to song writing and performing.
Tickets for both concerts are €20 and on sale in Shannonbridge.
On Saturday, there is free prehistoric music and traditional music events at Clonmacnoise between 2pm and 6pm and on Sunday between 2.30pm and 7pm its family day in the village with free events such as Donkey Feathers by Gombeen Street Theatre, treasure hunts, a drum off and jazz and blues by the Swinging Blue Cats.
