Animal Clinic is a new six-part observational series which follows the extraordinary work at Ireland's largest animal charity.
The high tech DSPCA clinic in the foothills of the Dublin mountains provides emergency care for every kind of domestic and wild animal imaginable, from snakes to horses, cats to parrots, no living thing is turned away and every animal is given a chance at this busy charity. They have a dedicated team of 32 staff who work around the clock helping the 20,000 cases which go through the doors every year.
Filmed over a year, this six-part series has intimate and unhindered access to this unique facility and follows the heartwarming and often heartbreaking stories of the animals and their carers. Each show will explore a wide range of animal cases, from abandoned pets in dire need of care and a new home, to injured hedgehogs, cats, dogs, horses and other creatures, great and small, requiring help to get back to full health.
We share the rescue and hospital staff's highs and lows as they dedicate their working lives to saving animals.
The Dublin SPCA are a non government charity and will celebrate their 170th year in existence in 2010, making them one of the oldest animal charities in the world.
In episode on, Lisa rescues a kitten who is stuck in a pipe. A careworker gets emotionally attached to a baby hare and some puppies give a senior citizen a new lease of life.
Animal Clinic is on RTÉ One each Thursday at 7pm.
