Travel apps for business

You may be travelling to the other side of the earth or simply the other end of Ireland. Whichever it is, business travel can be made easier through an app honoured with a prize at an awards ceremony recognising achievement across the web.

The recently-launched Expedia IE App has been receiving accolades including The People’s Voice Award at the 2013 Webby awards.

The free app is downloadable onto Android, iPhone and tablets reaching a wide network of users. The content quality is at the high level you would expect from parent site, Expedia, but adapted for display on hand-set and tablet screens making it easy to navigate. It also makes viewing a pleasant experience.

Making reservations

Booking flights and accommodation are amongst the first tasks you deal with when organising a business trip. If you are responsible for this yourself, the travel app from Expedia makes the process as efficient as possible through how it displays information.

For example, a user types in a request for choices for a flight from Dublin to Dubai and the app searches matches from 140 airlines. What it displays is a selection of flights tiered from the lowest to the most expensive flight and which airline is operating it.

A similar display comes up for accommodation reservations with additional automatic information on which meals are included in the rates which is very important for business travel budgeting. Accompanying information are stunning shots of room interiors so there can be no surprises on room quality when you arrive.

Keeping within budget is especially vital today for anyone travelling for business. Using the Expedia IE App allows access to exclusive deals and discounts on a range of accommodation and services.

Additionally, you receive points for nearly every booking made through the app which can be accrued and used for later trips.

Helpful features

A very useful feature of the Expedia IE App is the mobile itinerary. All bookings made through Expedia are pre-loaded onto the app so details of flights, hotels, work plans and business entertaining are all stored in one place and easily accessible at the end of your fingertips. You can still pack hard copy documents related to trip details but won’t need to refer to them continually.

This feature also provides updates on the status of your flight and useful travel alternatives while you are on the go.
