Franks and Hanniffy ready for Offaly"s clash with Cork

Offaly hurling manager Joe Dooley has received some welcome good news as David Franks and Rory Hanniffy have returned to full fitness for tomorrow evening"s All-Ireland qualifier against Cork (O"Connor Park, 7pm). An All-Star nominee last year, David Franks suffered a collapsed lung as a result of a knock in a club game with Carrickshock (Kilkenny), but has made a full recovery and is expected to line out at corner-back. Birr"s Rory Hanniffy has also shaken off a knee problem in time for the Tullamore clash. The Offaly hurling panel has been hit with a number of injury problems in recent weeks, and there are fresh doubts surrounding full-back David Kenny due to an ongoing hamstring injury. Kenny played in the Leinster quarter-final defeat to Wexford, but the Belmont clubman was not at optimum fitness due to injury. At the time of going to press, Dooley and his selectors had yet to finalise their team for the Cork match. The Offaly management team were awaiting fitness reports on James Rigney (shoulder ligaments), captain Ger Oakley (elbow), Cathal Parlon (knee), Daniel Currams (finger) and Joe Brady (groin strain) before selecting the team. Meanwhile, the Cork team for tomorrow evening"s game includes two championship debuts. Shane Murphy and Tadhg Óg Murphy are named in a team that shows three changes from that which lost narrowly to Tipperary in the Munster SHC quarter-final. Erin"s Own clubman Shane Murphy replaces Conor O"Sullivan at left corner-back, with Tadhg Óg Murphy selected to partner Tom Kenny at midfield. Jerry O"Connor moves to right half-forward with Pa Cronin taking over from Niall McCarthy at centre-forward. Ben O"Connor"s inclusion at top of the right sees Kieran Murphy of Sarsfields switching to left corner-forward at the expense of Pat Horgan, who drops to the bench along with O"Sullivan and McCarthy. Cork (SHC v Offaly): D. Óg Cusack; S. O"Neill, E. Cadogan, S. Murphy; J. Gardiner, R. Curran, S. Óg Ó hAilpín; T. Kenny, T. Óg Murphy; J. O"Connor, P. Cronin, T. McCarthy; B. O"Connor, A. Ó hAilpín, K. Murphy (Sarsfields).
