Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch won the Ulster National at Downpatrick on Wednesday with Chief Oscar, but the victory was tinged with sadness.
However, Chief Oscar collasped soon after passing the post for a heart attack, it was reported.
Lynch hit the front two fences from home and repelled the efforts of Bally Wall by a neck.
Chief Oscar was a previous winner at the track for trainer Brian Hamilton.
