Westmeath 2-14 Meath 1-11

For the second successive year Colm O'Rourke's Meath exited the Leinster u-21 FC at the first hurdle when they were comprehensively beaten by Westmeath at Cusack Park.

The sides had been level at half-time, 0-9 to 2-3, but Meath were left to rue the concession of those two first-half goal.

O'Rourke's side made a bright start to the second-half with Michael Newman's goal, but they had to play the final 13 minutes with just 14 men following the harsh sending off of Kevin McCann following two yellow cards.

The Royals were on level terms (1-10 to 2-7) when McCann was dismissed.
