Meath 1-12 Westmeath 2-8

Meath maintained their hopes of securing promotion from NFL Div 2 with a narrow 1-12 to 2-8 victory over Westmeath at Pairc Tailteann this evening.

However, as the contest approached full time such a win looked unlikely.

Westmeath held a shock 2-8 to 1-10 lead courtesy of a penalty goal from Paul Bannon and a second-half strike from Michael Ennis.

Meath were deplorable in the second-half as they threw away a 1-8 to 1-2 interval advantage.

With defeat staring them in the face it was David Bray who restored parity in the 69th minute before his brother Stephen kicked the winner with the last action of the contest.
