OFFALY had five representatives on the the Leinster GAA teams of the last 25 years.
Johnny and Joe Dooley, Brian Whelahan, Martin Hanamy and Joachim Kelly were all selected on the hurling team chosen by Leinster GAA, as part of the 125 year celebrations for the GAA.
The teams in both hurling and football were selected from a panel of Leinster players in both codes who achieved greatness in the 25 Years from 1984,the year in which the GAA celebrated its centenary.
All the award recipients are players we have seen in action over the 25 years and many of them continue to entertain and excite us with their spectacular skills and achivements.
"Leinster Council GAA chose to celebrate the significance of this year in a fitting manner and how better to do it than to honour our players, who represent our games and our association at community, county, provincial and national levels and out into the world beyond," said
Leinster Chairman, Sheamus Howlin at the Awards Banquet on Friday night
These players have brought glory to their clubs, counties and province through their playing skills and through their loyalty and dedication to our games.
