Six Nations Trophies

West Offaly Lions R.F.C., in conjunction with Gallen Community School, were proud to be able to bring the Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies to the school and the club on Thursday, 26th November. Bernard Quigley and Conor Galvin accompanied the trophies to all the National Schools in the Gallen Community School area. Connacht players and past pupils of the school Conor O'Loughlin, Aidan Wynne and Conor Higgins also attended the function at Gallen Community School. Sincere thanks to Danny Gleeson for music and refreshments on the night at Gleeson's of Ferbane.

Loughrea 12 West Offaly Lions 3

West Offaly Lions suffered their first defeat of the season away to Loughrea with a scoreline of 12-3.

This young Lions team never got off the mark on what was a dull encounter in Loughrea. West Offaly Lions had the first opportunity to put points on the board with a penalty kick; however, it was badly missed by kicker Paul Deeley. Soon afterwards Deeley slotted the ball between the posts from a second penalty kick which was the Lions only score of the day. Loughrea up their tempo in the second half and scored two tries, one converted, leaving the scoreline 12-3. West Offaly Lions will have to up their game if they are to progress in either the League or Cup this season.
