Edenderry hurlers gear up for Leinster decider

Edenderry Junior Hurlers travel to Malahide next Sunday to take on local side St. Sylvester's in the final of the Leinster Special Junior Hurling Competition. Edenderry have beaten Kyle from Laois 1-14 to 1-13 and Sarsfields of Kildare 2-14 to 3-07 en route to the final. The throw-in is at 2pm on Sunday December 6th in St Sylvester's GAA grounds at Broomfield, Malahide.

This will be an historic occasion for both sides as it is a first Leinster final appearance for either club. Edenderry will travel with lots of confidence following their impressive wins already in the competition. However, St Sylvester's are Junior Hurling Champions in Dublin this year and fought a tough drawn quarter final with Ratoath of Meath before easily winning the replay. They then accounted for Greystones of Wicklow in the semi-final on a 1-11 to 0-09 scoreline.

Home advantage will be a big plus for the Dublin outfit, however Edenderry have already proved in this competition that they fear no-one. If Edenderry hurl as strongly as in previous encounters then they should come out on top in this encounter.

Former All-Ireland winner Cillian Farrell is Edenderry's scorer in chief and has plenty of assistance from Martin Keogh, Sean "g Farrell and Bill Glennon. In defence, Edenderry are very disciplined with Tom Fay, Conleth Carey and Eoin Kelly providing plenty of problems to opposition forwards.

The Edenderry panel for the final is: B McCabe, T Fay, C Carey, S Kelly, D Egan, E Kelly, D Hanlon, S Connell, M Keogh, G Hanlon, C Farrell, S "g Farrell, J Carey, M Moore, B Glennon, J. Coffey, A Hynes, J. McDonnell, E Bagnall.

Edenderry GAA is delighted to have received generous sponsorship from Mr Tom Rafter of Pat's Bar and Mr John Kilmurray of Eden Décor. The sponsorship received has been used to kit out the Junior Hurling team for their Leinster Club Final against St Sylvester's on Sunday.
