Lowry lands holeinone but drops off the pace in dubai

IT was a mixed day for Offaly’s Shane Lowry in his attempt to build on yesterday’s great showing in the opening round of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Despite sharing the lead with Rory McIlroy after yesterday’s impressive opening round - and having hit a magnificent hole-in-one in today’s second round - Lowry has dropped to joint fifth position with two rounds remaining. Lowry hit a spectacular hole-in-one on the par 3 13th but three bogey’s in the first four holes today has cost him his place at the top, where Henrik Stenson has a two-shot lead from England’s Danny Willett, Richie Ramsay (Scotland) and the favourite Rory McIlroy.
