Shane lowry interview on utv ireland tonight

In an exclusive interview with UTV Ireland tonight, Clara native Shane Lowry talks about his current form and what the young golfer sees on the horizon of his professional career.

Speaking to Ger Gilroy for the programme’s weekly sports round-up every Friday night, Shane Lowry said: “I haven’t really looked back since May last year, since Wentworth. I’ve a lot of top 20, top 10, top 25 finishes. I’m up there a lot of the weeks – I’m giving myself chances to do well. I haven’t quite won yet but I’ve a feeling, I don’t like saying it too much, but I have a feeling there’s one not too far away.”

Fresh from his participation in The Honda Classic last week, Shane also talks about celebrating Padraig Harrington’s first Championship win in five years: “It was a good weekend. We had dinner with Padraig on the Sunday night – I’m still waiting for my cut of the cheque. Padraig seemed in good form even though he was after getting off to a bad start. I was holding out for a top five for him or a top ten. He managed to defy the odds again.”

Speaking openly about how golf clubs can be intimidating places for a lot of people and how those who regularly play golf can take it for granted, Shane said: “People that play golf take it for granted that you just go and book a tee time or book a lesson and just go and play. For someone who comes from family, there is this old thought that golf clubs are a bit snobbish or a bit posh – in some places it makes it easier to click online, than go to the doors of a golf club, they’d obviously be intimidated by something like that.”
