Tullamore Town FC have been selected to contest the Club of the Year award in The Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan this evening (Friday), 3rd July.

They will be in direct competition with Salthill Devon (Galway), Skerries Town (Dublin), Cootehill Harps (Cavan), Firhouse Carmel (Dublin), Dunboyne AFC (Meath), Strand Celtic (Sligo) and Esker Celtic (Dublin).

This is the club"s second appearance at these prestigious awards and this time they hope to capture the main prize. They will go into the competition as one of the favourites following the wonderful success of their Special Olympics team in Portugal earlier in the season and also the great strides made by their men"s and women"s teams during the last year.

The clubs will be allocated special booths which they will decorate with memorabilia from the season and they will also be asked to give a ten minute presentation to the adjudicating committee which will be followed by a further ten minute question and answer session.

Representing Tullamore will be Chairman Joe Connolly, Secretary Barry Hennessy, Treasurer Leslie Francis, PRO Frank Nicholson and Sinead and Laughlin Fitzsimons. Previous winners of the Club of the Year award have been Mullingar Athletic - 2005/06, Manulla FC (Mayo) - 2006/07 and St. Joseph"s Boys (Dublin) - 2007/08.

The winner of the 2008/09 award will be announced at a banquet hosted by the FAI on Friday evening in The Four Seasons Hotel.
