Birr man wins album of year award for second year running

Pete Kennedy

Birr man Pete Kennedy last Sunday won the UK Album of the Year award for the second year running for his album The Nashville Sessions Volume 2 at the British Country Music Awards.

Pete was nominated in five categories at the awards, including Male Vocalist and Best European Act.

He also performed live at the ceremony, playing his Song of the Year nomination Love Like That and album track Love You Anyway.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to win this award,” Pete said on the night. “Words just can’t describe how much this means to me.”

He went on to dedicate the win to his wife Audrey and two daughters who he said sacrifice so much while he pursues his career. He has travelled over 200,000 miles over the past 18 months both performing and promoting his work.

Pete plays Birr Theatre and Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 11 at 8pm. Tickets for the show are still available. For more see www.birrtheatre.com or call 057 9122911.
