Offaly is all set for Bealtaine

The CoisCeim seniors' troupe is pictured performing at the launch of Bealtaine 2014.

Organisers of Bealtaine, the festival that celebrates creativity as we age, have announced the line-up for May.

The month-long festival that includes hundreds of events for, by and featuring older people this year has the theme ‘And catch the heart off guard’, from Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘Postscript’.

Events in Offaly as part of Bealtaine will take place all across the county.

Taking to the stage at Birr Theatre and Arts Centre is ‘Small Plastic Wars’, the Seindorf yr Oakeley Brass Band and the film ‘Philomena’ among others. A one-day exhibition of artwork created by BLC Developments Active Age club will be displayed at Ballycumber Community Centre as part of the festival, while Tullamore library also has plans for a number of events.
