Midlands' swine flu clinics to remain open

The HSE has confirmed this week that its swine flu clinics in the Midlands region are to remain open. The Midlands HSE said there is no change to any of the swine flu clinics in the Midlands, which are still in operation, with those in the at risk categories able to book vaccine appointments. Students in Offaly and Laois are currently being vaccinated through the school programme, the spokesperson said. Health authorities encourage the public to be patient and wait for direction from their school, or book online at www.swineflu.ie or at www.hse.ieRates among children are still extremely high, so it is important that the HSE works to offer the vaccine to all children over the coming weeks and months. Children remain at higher risk of hospitalisation and complications from swine flu. Getting the vaccine protects a child from swine flu, and it also protects the people around them. Information packs are being distributed to schools, including consent forms for parents/guardians. Anyone with further questions can also call the HSE 24 hour Flu Information Line: 1800 94 11 00
