Offaly's libraries introduce ebook service

Members of Offaly libraries will soon be able to take out library books without even leaving their home. The county library service is currently finalising plans to make ebooks available for download at all eight county library locations. The service, which will allow users to download books onto eReaders in ePub and PDF format 24 hours a day, should be available through libraries in Banagher, Birr, Clara, Daingean, Edenderry, Ferbane, Kilcormac and Tullamore by the end of the year via their website. A spokesperson from Offaly Library Headquarters said it's planned that both fiction and non-fiction works will be included in the project as well as books for teenagers and children. Offaly libraries already provide an eAudiobook service, where audio versions of books can be downloaded free of charge onto devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players and iPods. To access the new service library users will need just their library card number and PIN. More information on these services and more are available at www.offaly.ie/libraries, www.facebook.com/offalylibraries or by following OffalyLibraries on Twitter.
