Bike Week 2013 in Offaly
Bike Week 2013 got underway last Saturday, and with key events in Offaly taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) and next Sunday Offalians are being encouraged to get back in the saddle.
Nationwide the initiative includes free bike checks, fun cycles, heritage cycles, road races and more. In both Tullamore and Birr there will be lunchtime cycles tomorrow, while a family fun cycle event will take place in Tullamore next Sunday.
Anyone interested in joining lunchtime cycles tomorrow should take note of arrangements. In Birr participants should meet at the Wilmer Road car park beside Birr Civic Offices at 12.45pm. Meanwhile in Tullamore the cycle will begin at Lloyd Town Park opposite the court house at the same time.
Both cycles should take no more than 30 minutes and will follow town centre routes. Helmets, hi-viz jackets and road worthy bikes are necessary to participate, and while children are welcome they should be supervised by parents.
On Sunday it’s time for “Pedal in the Park”, a family fun cycle from 2pm to 4pm in Lloyd Town Park in Tullamore. The event will include cycle skills, novelty races, bike blinging and bike maintenance workshops.
