Generally dry day with scattered outbreaks of showery rain

Wet and windy at first with drier and calmer conditions this weekend. That's the latest weather bulletin from Met Eireann.

Fog and mist will slowly clear this morning. Rather cloudy across Leinster and Munster throughout the day, but with some hazy sunshine across the west and north. Whilst there will be a lot of dry weather, scattered outbreaks of showery rain will occur too. Highest temperatures will range a seasonal 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, in just light variable breezes.

Most areas will be dry tonight under broken cloud. However, there will be some patchy drizzle too, mainly in the south. Some mist and fog will develop also with just light variable breezes. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, coldest where clear skies persist.

Mist and fog will lift during Thursday morning. Mostly dry to begin, however cloud will thicken with scattered outbreaks of rain moving up from the south, turning heavy later in the day, especially across Ulster and Connacht. It will become increasingly windy too, with strengthening southerly winds, reaching gale force at sea. Rather mild with top temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees Celsius.

Wet and windy spells will continue, especially early in the night on Thursday. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees Celsius, in fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds.

Friday will see blustery outbreaks of rain will gradually ease during the day allowing some brighter spells to break through. Fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds will veer westerly and later moderate. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Some residual light showers on Friday night but overall dry under broken cloud. Some mist and fog patches later, in just light westerly breezes. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Saturday is forecast to be a predominantly dry but mostly cloudy day with well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, in mostly light southerly or variable breezes.

Sunday is expected to be another mostly dry but rather cloudy day with well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees Celsius, in light east to southeast breezes with best values in the west.

Generally dry on Monday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, though there will be some early morning mist and fog patches. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, in light variable breezes.
