Snow and ice warning issued for the whole country

Met Éireann has issued a yellow-level snow and ice warning for all counties which will come into effect tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.

The warning was issued a short time ago, with the national forecaster advising people to be prepared for "scattered showers of hail, sleet and snow, and icy stretches, Thursday evening, Thursday night and Friday morning, which will lead to hazardous travelling conditions in some parts."

It said the wintry precipitation would be most widespread in the west and north of the country, where some accumulations are likely.

Some isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur also.

The 19-hour weather warning comes into effect at 4pm on Thursday and will remain in place until 11am on Friday.
