Preparations underway for Summer Solstice event in Clara

Clara Heritage Society will once again celebrate the Summer Solstice and mark the ongoing works of the National Parks and Wildlife Service who have extended the walkway at Tony's Hill with a boardwalk through the forest.

After last year's inaugural event by Clara Heritage Society to mark the ancient Celtic Summer Festival at the then recently developed walkway at Tony's Hill, Clara, it was decided to again celebrate the Summer Solstice.

Preparations are in full swing by CHS's dedicated team of Ray Henry, Tommy Minnock and Brian Sheridan to prepare the site in advance of the Summer Solstice Celebration at Tony's Hill.

The event will kick off at 4pm on Saturday, June 25 to mark the ancient Celtic Festival dedicated to the life-sustaining, regenerative powers of the Sun. The afternoon will consist of plenty of craic and ceoil provided by Rahan Comhaltas, stories of the families who lived in the area including the famed Tony of Tony's Hill.

Refreshments will also be on offer on the day and shuttle buses will depart from the Fair Green at 3.15pm and 3.45pm returning at 6pm and 6.30pm as parking at the site is limited.
