Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.

Health Minister has rental property in Clara

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has declared his ownership of a house for letting in Clara on the latest register of Dáil members' interests.

The Offaly property was one of two rental homes declared by the Fianna Fáil representative on the 2022 register, which was published in recent weeks. His other property for letting was an apartment in Sandyford, Dublin.

Mr Donnelly has owned the rental property in Clara for many years now, having declared it on the register of members' interests each year since he was first elected to the Dáil in 2011.

From 2011 to 2015, he listed the address of the three-bed property on the register. Since 2015, the property's address has been omitted from the register, and it's simply been listed as a house in Clara.

Independent Offaly TD Carol Nolan also declared a rental property in the county on the members' interests register; a two-bedroom cottage at Lackaroe, Cadamstown, Birr, which, she stated, was jointly owned with her husband.

Senator and Minister of State Pippa Hackett declared her ownership of farmland at Geashill, Tullamore, and her 50% shareholding of Moat House Farm Ltd which was listed as a bloodstock and farming business in Geashill.

In addition, she declared her receipt of flights and accommodation for Green Party trips to Karlstad, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark, last year.

The trip to Sweden last May was for the European Green Party conference, while the Danish visit in December was for the European Green Party congress.

Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen's only declaration on the members' interests register was his ownership of "residence and lands at Lahinch, Clara, Co. Offaly".

Two other Laois-Offaly TDs, Fianna Fáil's Sean Fleming and Sinn Féin's Brian Stanley listed their constituency offices in Laois as their only entries on the register.

Fine Gael TD and former Minister Charlie Flanagan declared ownership of his law office and legal practise in Portlaoise, his constituency office in Mountmellick, and a private house, not for letting, at Irishtown, Mountmellick.

Under the heading of 'shares', Mr Flanagan listed: "Private Pension Fund, shares etc: Davy Stockbrokers, Dublin 2, private client pension fund."

In addition, the former Minister who is based in county Laois declared his status as a non-executive director of Co-operation Ireland, a not-for-profit charitable organisation based in Belfast which works on peace building.
