Nearly 1,500 premises near Edenderry added to high-speed broadband area

National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company delivering high-speed fibre broadband on behalf of the Government under the National Broadband Plan has announced that Edenderry has now been connected to high-speed fibre broadband.

NBI said its connection of Edenderry means that 1,446 homes and businesses in the area can now access high-speed fibre broadband.

Across Offaly, a total of almost 11,500 homes, farms and businesses can place an order for high-speed broadband through NBI.

The company added that works have also been completed in rural areas surrounding Tyrrellspass and Tullamore.

National Broadband Ireland is encouraging all Offaly residents to visit nbi.ie and check their Eircode to see if they’re ready to connect and find out more about placing an order.

TJ Malone, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: "We are delighted to announce that almost 1,500 Offaly homes, businesses and farms near Edenderry can now connect to NBI’s high-speed fibre broadband.

"Those connected are experiencing the life-changing benefits of high-speed fibre broadband with minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second," he said.

"With the national switch-off of the copper network approaching, NBI’s fibre network will ensure communities across Offaly are prepared for the future by supporting remote working, education, healthcare access, and local enterprise while providing the reliability needed for everyday living."
