Significant number on trolleys in Portiuncula this morning

Thirteen admitted patients were awaiting beds at Portiuncula hospital in Ballinasloe this morning, according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

Seven of the patients were in the Emergency Department and six on wards, the union said.

Nationally, 474 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch. 316 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 158 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The figures show no one on trolleys in either Tullamore or Mullingar hospitals.
