Éire Grapple head coach makes winning return to competition
Tullamore’s Kieran Davern made a winning return to high level martial arts competition when he claimed the gold medal at Polaris 37, one of Europe’s premier professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu promotions, in Dublin, on Saturday night.
A dominant performance saw the Éire Grapple head coach claim the honours over Shane Price from Wales, the Tullamore martial artists specialist claiming victory in the first round of the final bout.
The victory, earned before a sold out Dublin crowd and worldwide audience watching live on FloGrappling and YouTube, marked a remarkable comeback for Davern, who was competing for the first time in three years following a period away from the sport due to injury.
Davern has dedicated over 20 years to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is widely respected within the Irish grappling community for both his competitive achievements and his coaching.
He has helped develop athletes at all levels while continuing to push himself at the highest level of competition.
His performance at Polaris 37 demonstrated that time away from competition has done little to diminish his abilities.
Polaris has established itself as one of the biggest professional grappling organisations in Europe, regularly attracting elite competitors from around the world.
With events broadcast globally through FloGrappling, the promotion provides athletes with a platform to showcase their skills before an international audience.
