Summer style at Menarys and Tempest
LONG, hot summer days and smouldering sunsets are on everyone's holiday wish list. Menarys and Tempest look at how you can rock the high street and look fabulous at every age before you jet off this year… No matter what age you are or how short the shoe string budget is this summer - the big labels on the high street have raised the bar when it comes to delivering style for everyone. "In the famous words of style icon Carrie Bradshaw - have fun, that's what your twenties are for, your thirties are for learning the lessons and your forties….are for paying for the drinks. But, fashion at any age is all about attitude so if you love clothes that complement your figure then why not embrace the looks of the season at any age!" says stylist Alison Paul, from local retailer Menarys and Tempest. Legs, Legs Legs Hemlines are shorter than ever this year so ladies prepare to bare all, with a little help from fake tan this season. "Invest in a few pairs of shorts if you are in your 20s. Denim shorts from Awear and Quiz teamed with a vest and pumps for day can easily transform into a night look with killer wedges and jacket," said Alison. "Playsuits are also huge this season so it means everyone can get in on the eg trend at any age. Spanish giant Mango have some stunning options and if you want to cover up a little - team with a lightweight knit from Wallis. "For 40s and beyond- it's still easy to carry the leggy look this summerwith a sexy knee length skirt. Bright colours and vintage inspired prints work well. The collections from Kaliko and Coast are perfect at interpreting this crisp, summer look." Seventies Fever "Whether you love the hippie chic of a maxi or prefer the disco diva seventies revival - you're certain to bag a few stunners from the high street. "Maxis are THE statement piece for any fashionista's wardrobe. From your 20s to your 50s and beyond they always make an entrance. "This season paisley prints, animal prints, florals and bold colours are huge. So, why not take it to the max- a great look for beach to bar wherever you end up this year! Disco chic is also a key trend for summer staples but Alison advises that this is look is trickier to pull off than most: "Uber glam 70s looks are tricky to rock well. Steer clear of head to toe metallic as they can cheapen any outfit. Instead, opt for flashes of metallic through accessories or stick to bright, fun block colours to get the party started." Super Stripes The Menarys and Tempest style team also have this advice on how to get the right stripe for your age: "Think French Riviera fused with tailored whites and mix and match shades - and you'll be ready to walk the line! Alison adds: "General style rules here apply - thin stripes will make you appear slimmer and chunky stripes will have the opposite effect, so keep them away from problem areas. "All in one clashing striped ensembles are en vogue for 20 and 30 somethings - Miss Selfridge and Oasis are good places to start your search! More mature ladies can look equally on trend by investing in crisp tailored jackets teamed with casual Breton style tops. Team with some chunky accessories and wedges and you are ready to hit the high seas in style!"
