TADS to bring Pulitzer prize-winning drama to Tullamore stage next week

Tullamore Amateur Dramatic Society (TADS) is leading the way for theatre in Tullamore with ‘Rabbit Hole’ starting in Esker Arts on Tuesday, November 18, and running until Friday, November 21, starting at 8pm nightly.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama 'Rabbit Hole' by David Lindsay-Abaire is a play which plumbs the depths of life and loss, isolation and uneasiness, holding on and moving on. The play tells the story of a married couple grieving the loss of their young son in a car accident.

Poignant and moving and with moments of immensely sensitive humour the play explores themes of resilience and survival and tells a story of loss and hope.

The strong cast of five, consisting of Ivan Hanamy, Sinéad Handy, Claire Lemass, Sean Doyle and Linda McGill Buckley, are directed by Mary Sherwin, a familiar name in Tullamore when it comes to TADS plays. Sinéad Handy, of The Handy Theatre Co., said: "Stepping into Becca’s shoes has been emotionally demanding and challenging but the rehearsal room has also been full of laughter and shared experiences."

Playing Becca's husband, Howie, is Ivan Hanamy, who said: "I am most definitely looking forward to the challenge of portraying Howie's character on stage. Grief has touched everyone in some way in their lives". Another familiar face in Tullamore when it comes to the stage, Claire said: "Playing Izzy has been really rewarding, as her chaotic, 'black sheep' nature brings much-needed contrast and levity to the intense grief at the heart of the play."

Tickets are available now on www.eskerarts.ie or through the Esker Arts Box Office.
