Intriguing heritage event in Banagher

The heritage event for this year's That Beats Banagher Festival is entitled ‘An Encounter with The Faithful Departed’ and is best described as an experience with prominent citizens from Banagher's historic past!

It will take place in St Rynagh's Old Graveyard, just off the Market Square.
During a walk around the graveyard the audience will meet with Sir John MacCoghlan, died 1590 and Grisell Armstrong, died 1680 and a stonecutter from the nineteenth century.
They will also hear about the military personnel interred here especially those from the First World War era and the story of the Fox Sisters who endowed the establishment of the La Sainte Union convent in Banagher in 1862.
Various other characters will also rendezvous with the visitors.
The event will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm this Saturday, July 20.
Meeting point is outside the gated entrance to the graveyard.
Admission is free but an opportunity to show your appreciation may arise. All proceeds to the TBBF committee to offset the growing costs of running the festival. Booking is essential and can be done through thatbeatsbanagher.com
