The admission-free 50 Plus Show, the lifestyle event for retired and older people, is returning to The Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone on Sunday 8th and Monday 9th July. And all visitors will receive a free goody bag.
Features of this hugely popular even will include talks on how to survive the menopause by Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Harmini Sidhu of Galway Clinic, consumer rights advice from RTEs Sinead Ryan, fashions shows, free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, hobbies and pastime workshops, exercise classes, information on volunteering abroad, antiques, stamps and coin valuations, and much more.
Sinead Ryan of the Irish Independent and RTE TVs Me and My Money will offer personal finance advice.
The organisers describe the event as a ‘upbeat, one-stop-shop’ for older people, showcasing many of their interests and concerns,.

One of the highlights on both days will be the fashion shows organised by St Vincent de Paul at 3pm. The shows will feature many designer label items which can be purchased for a fraction of their original price.
The organisers point out that these presentations at the shows are always very popular and advise those interested to take their places in good time to ensure a seat. They also emphasise that you don’t have to be over 50 to enjoy the event – all ages are welcome.

The show runs from 12 noon until 6pm on Sunday 8th July, and from 11am until 5pm on Monday 9th July. The organisers have laid on a free shuttle bus service to and from Athlone railway station. Buses will be running at 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm on Sunday, and on 11am, 12 noon and 1pm on Monday. Return buses from the Hodson Bay Hotel run on 4pm, 5pm and 6pm on Sunday and 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on Monday.
