Music and football - for Villa fans

Local singer/songwriter and front man of Offaly band 'Whatever Jones' Damian Farrell AKA Farlo will be showcasing a bunch of classic and modern songs in a solo acoustic theme performance called 'Anthems that Inspired the Terraces'. Anthems that inspired the Terraces is a celebration to football chants and songs that have been etched into memorable sporting moments and sung in various sporting stadiums grounds all over the world songs. From Oasis to David Bowie, the Charlatans to the Stone Roses, will be all sung to launch the new branch of the Tullamore Aston Villa supporters club, the 'Tullamore Lions'. The launch will take place in De Bruins at 1pm Sunday February 28, two hours before kickoff in the Carling Cup Final against Man Utd. "I have been to Anfield and Celtic Park, and when you are present in front of 50,000 people singing 'You'll never walk alone', you can feel the hairs standing on the back of your neck. It creates an atmosphere that drives your team, I hope to do that from a distance, to instill a little more excitement before kick off," said Damian. All Aston Villa fans are invited to join the new Tullamore Lions Aston Villa supporters club, at the open meeting on February 28. The club has just been established since December and has 41 members and are looking for Villa fans from all over for future events. It was set up by a few men who were raised in Birmingham to Offaly parents and who came back to Tullamore some years ago.
