Charleville Castle hosts 'Facefest'

Organisers are putting the final tweaks to a fundraising festival at Charleville Castle that was borne of a desire to meet up with friends in real life rather than online.

‘Facefest’, which will raise money for Charleville Castle, takes place on June 21 next. Performers will play from noon until midnight on the day, with camping that night free to ticket holders.

Organisers and Charleville Castle volunteers Ian and Ally O’Flynn say ‘Facefest’ will be family friendly, with activities around the castle grounds as well as live music.

Music on the day will include ‘In The Willows’, ‘My Fellow Sponges’, ‘Animal Beats’, ‘Dem Fools’ and ‘Fat Baby Panda’.

Other entertainment will include a medieval zone, the child-friendly ‘Tir na nOg’ zone, a spoken word corner, Republic of Astronomy and Facefeast, with award winning chef Keith Kenny.

Tickets for ‘Facefest’ cost €15 for adults and €14 for twelve to eighteen year olds. Children under twelve who are accompanied by an adult go free. Part of the entry fee is membership of Charleville Castle Heritage Trust, so visitors automatically therefore become castle friends.
