Siobhan Phelan

'Got To Dance' tv fame for Offaly girl

Eight-year-old Walsh Island girl Siobhan Phelan has bowled over the judges on Sky's Got To Dance programme. The young Irish dancer's audition in Dublin's RDS was broadcast on last weekend's opening programme in a new series of Sky's Got To Dance. Siobhan, who dances under the name Damhsa Dreams, moved to Walsh Island with her family three years ago, from Manchester. Daughter of Reagan and Sinead, she is a pupil of Geashill NS, and in her short time dancing, she has truly made her mark, winning medals at the European Irish Dancing championship last year. This year's series of Got To Dance started on Sky 1 on Sunday, but Siobhan has already impressed judges. She has been dubbed ‘darting damhsa' on the Sky website. The site also says: “Nimble-footed Damhsa Dreams looks as though she's about to take off as she flies around the stage!†Siobhan previously competed on TG4's An Jig Gig, where she was heavily praised by judges. Got To Dance judges are Diversity lead choreographer Ashley Banjo, former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, and Tap Dogs star Adam Garcia. Acts compete for one of 28 places available on the judges' shortlist in order to be in with a chance of competing in front of a studio audience of over 1,000 people and winning the biggest ever talent show prize of £250,000. The show is hosted by Davina McCall and airing across eight episodes on Sky I HD this January, the show follows the auditions across three cities where the judges will select the best dancers to go through to their shortlist. They will then select a final 28 to take part in the four live studio semi-finals, where they will battle it out to win a place in the spectacular final and be crowned series champions by the viewing public.
