Offaly Chernobyl Aid Kilmucklin barbecue time

Offaly Chernobyl Aid organisers are hoping locals will get behind them again this year with the now traditional Mid Summer Madness barbecue in Kilmucklin next week.

The barbecue, which has become a much loved part of the local social calendar, will take place Saturday week, June 25.

Keeping in mind the difficulties we all endure in these less than ideal economic times, Chairperson of Offaly Chernobyl Aid Barry Guilfoyle said the organising committee has "dropped the cost of the tickets, increased the number of bands and decreased the beer temperature!"

Proceeds from the night goes towards work in Belarus that makes a world of difference to underprivileged children there. A group is set to travel to Chernobyl again soon to work in an orthopaedic hospital.

Next Saturday week's day out will see plenty of food and drinks, and the guest of honour will be roasting on the spit as in previous years. Top entertainment will be provided by numerous bands, with a DJ to wind the night up.

Tickets priced at €15 are available from local Clara and Tullamore businesses.
