The idea of a teen disco in Daingean was hit on by as a fundraiser to help raise money to build a community centre for Daingean. Discos are planned for the third Friday of every month, with tickets €8 and VIP tickets €12.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent recently disco organiser Liam Brennan said teens will have to be dropped off in a car driven by a parent to gain entry to the disco. Professional bouncers will be on duty, he added, along with one stewart to every 20 teens. DJ Keith Caffrey will supply the tunes, while those paying the additional €4 entry will enjoy hanging out in the town hall’s impressive Georgian rooms along with their own separate soft drinks bar and toilets.
