Tullamore's Robyn just misses out on modelling contract

Taking part in the novel cancer charity fundraiser 'Dip in the Nip’ two years ago helped 25-year-old Tullamore native Robyn Brazil learn to love her body. Recently she was chosen from hundreds of one of 15 finalists in a competition to find the next face of a plus-size clothing store, and though she just missed out on winning last weekend, she's delighted with her new found confidence.

This year is the third one the 'The Face of Tempted’ competition has been run by the clothing store Tempted, which specialises in sizes 16-28.

With some 800 entries to this year’s competition, Robyn made it into the final 15 thanks to her entry advocating the empowerment of curvy girls and the rejection of a one-size-fits-all ethos.

“We’re not all one shape,” the mother to five-year-old Jamie Scott said, adding that “it’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin”.

“I’ve always struggled with body confidence,” she continued, “but this is a different step. Two years ago I did 'Dip in the Nip’. I came home and thought everybody should do it once, and it’s inspired me to take the next step.”

Robyn appeared in a fashion show in the Crowne Plaza in Dublin on Sunday, May 11. Half the proceeds from the night went to St Francis’ Hospice in Raheny, where Tempted has a store, and the remainder to the winning contestant’s charity choice.
