2013 FilmOffaly award open for submissions

The 2013 FilmOffaly/Filmbase award has been opened for submissions from both professional and novice filmmakers. Submissions to the competition that aims to foster creative and resourceful filmmaking in Offaly must be received by April 5. Organisers say they are looking for “unique, original stories”.

The only stipulation of the FilmOffaly/Filmbase award is that filming must take place in Offaly. Entrants have from now until 3pm on April 5 to hand in three copies of their script along with a 500 word synopsis to Aras an Chontae in Tullamore.

The competition will lead to one outright winner. That winner will get €8,000 towards production costs; a local premiere; a one year Filmbase membership for the writer, producer and director; a 50 per cent discount on production equipment and/or editing facilities from Filmbase for the project and Filmbase’s production insurance to cover the shoot.

The award will be based on a two stage application process, with a shortlist of applicants from the initial entry invited to interview. More information on the award is available by visiting www.filmoffaly.ie or www.offaly.ie/arts.
