Investigations continue into Davitt Street incident

Gardaí in Tullamore are continuing investigations after an attack on a house on Davitt Street led to a gun allegedly being discharged last Tuesday evening, March 26.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent Sergeant Graham Kavanagh said the incident occurred at about 7.30pm, when the Davitt Street house was attacked by a number of individuals with what appeared to be iron bars and sticks.

As a result of the alleged gunshots one of the occupants of the house was arrested and detained at Tullamore garda station. That man was subsequently released on Wednesday evening without charge, and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It’s been reported that nobody was injured during the incident. Sgt Kavanagh said investigations into the incident are continuing.
