The cover of last year's Tullamore Annual

2nd Tullamore Annual planned

The success of the inaugural Tullamore Annual has prompted the Tullamore Lions Club to undertake the task of compiling their second annual.

Due to be published in time for the Christmas market, the Tullamore Annual will be packed with articles and photos of many aspects of life in Tullamore.

Last year’s widely acclaimed publication won approval, with all proceeds from the sale going to support the many community causes the Tullamore Lions Club strives to support.

President of Tullamore Lions Club Mark Gallagher is very enthusiastic about the project. “The Tullamore Annual is for everyone with Tullamore connections at home and abroad,” he said. “Last year’s publication was a massive success and we’re determined to build on that success this year.”

Honorary editor of the Tullamore Annual is Denis Doherty, and he says supporting the venture is well worth it.

“Over the past 38 years the people of Tullamore have been most supportive of the Lions Club,” he said. “In all that time there has never been an occasion when the club had to refuse a request we considered worthy of support but lacked money to do so. The proceeds of the sale of the annual will, we believe, be a valuable source of income, all of which will be used to meet local needs.”

Those behind the second Tullamore Annual are open to suggestions for inclusions and are interested in hearing from individuals, organisations and clubs who would like to be involved. Local journalists Geraldine Grennan and Brian Jaffray will work alongside Mr Doherty to bring out the annual.

Members of the public can help by supplying photographs of weddings that take place in 2013 and also by supplying photos of loved ones who passed away this year to be included in a “fondly remembered” section of the annual.
