It turns out it's not just us mere mortals who sometimes forget to bring library books back in time - Santa does too!
Yesterday morning (Thursday), staff at Tullamore library were surprised to find a letter from Santa in the post.
In the letter Santa apologised for forgetting to return "Naughty or nice: with just one look". He said he'd drop it in on Christmas Eve, but later figured he could renew it online instead.
In his letter Santa said the book he'd borrowed had taught him that all children in Offaly are "super duper nice", and he looked forward to visiting their homes over Christmas.
The letter from the North Pole will be read at the library's Polar Express sessions next Thursday, December 19. Four sessions will take place on the day, and spaces are still available for sessions at 11.30am and 3.30pm.
Any children interested in attending can be booked in by contacting the library on 057 93 46832 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
