Man's body discovered in Clara

The body of a man in his 40s has been discovered in Offaly. The grim discovery was made this morning in a drain in open space at Kilbride, Clara.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said the body was found at approximately 8.45am this morning and remains at the scene.

The scene has been preseved pending a forensic examination. State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is expected to attend shortly. 

Gardai are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. An incident room ihas been set up at Tullamore Garda Station, and can be reached by calling 057 9327600.
