Questioning continues at three midland garda stations

Three people are continuing to be questioned at garda stations in Tullamore, Birr and Portlaoise this morning (Monday) as part of an investigation into organised crime in Offaly.

The three - two women and one man aged in their teens and early 20s - were arrested last Friday after planned searches on a number of houses in Clara and Tullamore.

Those arrested are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 as amended. Their periods of detention were extended by 72 hours last Saturday. Another similar extention can be sought by gardai if required.
