Edenderry and Tullamore are up and running with broadband speeds of up to 100Mbs, while Birr is to be upgraded to superfast broadband this summer and Banagher by the end of the year.

That’s according to an update this week from eircom, which adds that Gracefield, Killenard, Ballinagar, Clara, Daingean, Ferbane, Geashill, Kilcormac, Killeigh, Mucklagh, Rahan, Rhode and Shinrone are scheduled to be upgraded before July 2014 in the company’s rollout plan.

Eircom announced earlier this month that it had connected its 100,000th customer to its fibre network, and that its network’s footprint now reaches over 750,000 homes and businesses.

Plans are in place to cover some 1.4 million homes and business across Ireland however, and by 2016 eircom is suggesting 70 per cent of the country across 26 counties will have access to fibre broadband speeds of up to 100Mbs.

How are your broadband speeds? Is anyone still without a service? Let us know with a comment.
