Clara nursing home welcomes first resident

Clara’s newest nursing home, which will provide more than 50 jobs locally when working at full capacity, welcomed its first resident on Wednesday.

Esker Ri Nursing Home at Kilnabinna currently has 26 staff members. Future residents at the new facility will enjoy 67 rooms, six independent living quarters, a purpose-built ten-bed dementia unit, two hairdressing salons, therapy and treatment rooms and a large community hall.

Speaking to the Offaly Independent, manager Sheila Maher said it’s planned the nursing home will become fully integrated with the local community, with non-resident locals having the option of visiting to enjoy meals and events.
