Tullamore hospital pharmacist to head up European group

Tullamore hospital’s chief pharmacist has been selected as president-elect of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP).

Joan Peppard is to head up the Europe-wide association from June 2015, a move that president of the Hospital Pharmacists’ Association of Ireland (HPAI) Deirdre Lynch says shows Europe appreciates the patient care provided by Irish hospital pharmacists.

A native of Tyrrellspass in Westmeath, Joan now lives in Rochfortbridge. She was educated at UCD, and began her career as a pharmacist in Tullamore hospital in 1984.

Currently a director of professional development for the EAHP and chief pharmacist at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, Joan was president of the HPAI from 2004 to 2006 and again from 2011 to 2012.

She also served as chief pharmacist in Tullamore hospital from 1993 to 2001.
