Offaly brothers in running for entrepreneur of the year

Brothers Vincent and Gerard Cleary will represent both Glenisk and Offaly when they attend the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Dublin on Thursday.

The organic dairy food company has been revealed as one of 24 finalists vying for the overall Entrepreneur of the Year award, after months of judging deliberations.

The company that’s based in Killeigh is shortlisted along with seven others in the industry category of the awards that will be televised live.

“Our independent panel of judges have deliverated over this year’s finalists based on their ability to innovate, create value, manage risk and, above all, establish a vision for both themselves and their employees,” partner in charge of EY Entrepreneur of the Year Frank O’Keeffe explained.

“Each and every one of our 24 shortlisted entrepreneurs has overcome significant challenges, particularly in these difficult economic times, to accomplish great success and we look forward to acknowledging their individual and collective achievements at our awards ceremony.”

Hosted by Kathryn Thomas and Mark Little, the awards gala will be television live from Citywest on RTE One on Thursday night at 10.50pm.

On the night a winner will be selected from three categories - emerging, industry and international - and from these winners an overall winner will be announced as EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014.

The overall winner will then go on to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur of the Year award in Monte Carlo next June.
