Croghan locals to take on cycle for special olympics

Charitable cyclists of all levels will be given the opportunity to make a difference to local Special Olympics athletes tomorrow (Saturday).

Two fundraising cycles have been arranged, with one for more experienced cyclists covering more than 80km and another family friendly route covering a more manageable 10km.

Both cycles will depart from St Brigid’s GAA grounds in Croghan. The longer route, which will continue from Croghan to Rhode, Edenderry, Carbury, Enfield, Kinnegad, Milltownpass, Rochfortbridge and Tyrrellspass before returning to Croghan, will begin at 10am. Registration costing €15 will be open from 8am however.

A 10km family cycle will take place at noon meanwhile, covering a local looped circuit.

A barbecue and draw is planned for after the cycles at Croghan GAA grounds. Funds raised by the event will all go towards the costs of local athletes who will travel to compete in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles next year.
