Bord na Mona auction expected to attract big crowds

A Bord na Mona machinery clearance auction is expected to draw big crowds from at home and abroad next month.

The public auction, which includes over 200 lots ranging from tools to tractors, vans and plant machinery, will take place at Bord na Mona’s Blackwater Works in Shannonbridge on Saturday, July 9.

The auction is being handled by Kildare based Paul Cooke Auctions, who managed a similar auction for Bord na Mona last year. Auctioneer Paul Cooke said the previous event went “phenomenally well. We had buyers basically from all over Europe and the machinery got very good prices.”

He believes the similar lots will attract a sizeable crowd once again and has already received interest from abroad. The auction is taking place because Bord na Mona are updating their fleet and selling off their older equipment, he explained. “It is the same again, it is all down to fleet renewal, they(Bord na Mona) are buying new machinery,” he remarked.

Viewing will take place at Shannonbridge on Thursday and Friday before the auction gets underway on Saturday, July 9 at 12 noon.
