Brian Farrell returned to the Meath duty as Eamonn O'Brien's charges defeated Cork in a SF challenge at Stradbally, Laois on Saturday.
Farrell came on as a second-half substitute for Jamie Queeney and scored two points from frees in what was his first appearance in the county colours since the All-Ireland semi-final defeat by Kerry last August.
Farrell had taken a sabbatical from his job with with Fagan, Lynch & Donnellan accountancy firm in Navan and his duties with Meath to spend a few months touring Australia.
He travelled to Australia with team-mate Caoimhin King who also continued his return to competitive action when he made an appearance for Dunshaughlin in their A FL Div 1 draw with Simonstown last Sunday.
Joe Sheridan, who also shaved his head for charity last week, played a major role in helping Meath to defeat Cork in the Stradbally challenge.
Sheridan teased and tormented the Cork defence and particularly 2006 Allstar Ger Spillane and went on to rack up 1-2 in the Royal County's victory.
St Patrick's clubman Niall Mooney also found the target to boost Meath into a 2-6 to 0-7 interval advantage.
The game was more even in the second-half with both sides registering five points however, the Rebels were unable to find a way past David Lyons in the Meath goals.
Cork fielded a strong team which included Noel O'Leary, Donncha O'Connor, Fintan Goold, Colm O'Neill as well as 2009 Allstars Daniel Goulding and Pearse O'Neill.
Among those who showed up well for Meath were Gary O'Brien, Shane McAnarney and Mooney.
James Macken continued in his customary position of full-back against Cork and drove forward to contribute one point to Meath's victory.
