Hopes rise for Glanbia jobs boost as new bosses take over

Jobs lost following the fire at the Glanbia Plant in Edenderry may return to the town following indications from the new management of the plant. Edenderry Cllr Fergus McDonnell said the new management ?confirmed their intention to rebuild the plant?, this week. However, a spokesperson for Glanbia said the new management had yet to take control of the site and were not in a position to talk to the media at present. One of Edenderry?s largest employers, the Glanbia facility was extremely badly damaged by a fire on August 12, 2007. Following the fire, employees were moved to a plant in Roscrea, with some remaining in the offices of the building which were spared from the flames. Glanbia reopened the slaughtering line at the plant in November of 2007, but the meat processing workers have yet to return to the town. The rebuilding of the plant would be a huge boost for the town. The fire affected not only staff but surrounding business and suppliers at the time.
