€35,000 worth of damage caused to cars in Cloncollig

Eoghan MacConnell reports An estimated €35,000 worth of damage was caused to 35 vehicles at a car yard at Cloncollig, Tullamore on Wednesday night last. Two men were arrested and houses were searched in the Cloncollig area following a Garda investigation on Thursday morning. Sgt Kieran Keyes said: ?a serious amount of criminal damage was caused at a premises on Cloncollig Road on Wednesday night?. ?Two men entered the premises at 2am in the morning and damaged cars. A certain amount of property was stolen,? Sgt Keyes said. Gardaí recovered some property believed to have been from the car yard during the searches on Thursday. Describing the attack on the car yard as ?mindless vandalism?, Sgt Keyes said a file was being prepared for the DPP in relation to the incident.
